Good afternoon Montessori Families and Friends,

Thanks for reading our schoolwide weekly newsletter!

Parent/Guardian Conferences

This Friday is our next opportunity for family conferences; all lead instructional staff posted conference sign-ups for this Friday (10/23). We will have another noon dismissal so that our lead guides can meet with the families of our students.

TSKW Schools at the Studios Programming

TSKW Director Jed Dodds and Ms. Bria are planning a special art field trip for May Sands Montessori School students who are on-campus as well as in our online learning community! The dates are nearly confirmed, and details will be shared soon!

News from Parents for Charter Schools

I encourage all families to sign up for news updates from This week’s post reinforces the importance of reducing stress during this prolonged pandemic, and I’m sharing a few of the highlights:

  • Display daily schedules for each member of the family on a calendar or whiteboard. Consider posting rules about screen time limits.
  • Take time for non-screen activities (kids and parents alike) that focus on creative outlets.
  • Schedule regular contact, virtually, with family and friends, especially those you haven’t seen in a while.
  • Consider widening your “bubble” to include friends and family you trust to be taking similar health precautions.
  • Hold a family meeting to work out a fair division of household responsibilities.

Identify ways to become healthier, both physically and mentally:

  • Be sure everyone is getting enough sleep.
  • Choose a balance of healthy foods over too much comfort food
  • Get exercise. It’s a great family activity!
  • Take time to communicate. Talk about your feelings, fears, and frustrations. Have nightly chats, family meetings, or device-free dinners.
  • Reach out to your doctor if you or anyone in your family feels particularly sad or anxious. There are many resources available. Physicians and counselors are offering telehealth options. Don’t wait.

Face Covering Guidance

Our school provided a pack of reusable face coverings to students at school to reduce the need for daily laundering.

Remember, face coverings should meet the following CDC requirements:

  • Snug but comfortable fit against the side of the face
  • Secured with ties or ear loops
  • Made with multiple layers of fabric
  • Allows for breathing without restriction
  • Can be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape
