Our event is only four days away!  Families that purchased Great Gala event tickets online should look in their student’s take home folder tonight for their event tickets. Everyone will need their event ticket for entry on Saturday night.  There are less than 20 tickets left – we’re hosting ticket sales each morning, during arrivals – thanks to Carrie Shaw (parent, Mahi & Reef Gecko) and Tara McCabe (parent, Blue Tang) for taking on this volunteer position!

The event ticket price includes a welcome cocktail, dinner, entertainment, and 1 raffle entry.

Ticket price:  $75 Transportation $10 (from school)   Child Care $10 (includes pizza dinner)

Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 6:00 pm-11:00pm at the Lost Kitchen Supper Club on Stock Island

*Please bring any outstanding auction item donations to school by tomorrow (2/28) as we will be using an online auction platform this year, and will need time to upload the inventory.

Montessori Education Week Open House

This Thursday’s Open House is from 5:30 – 6:30 and in addition to having the classrooms open for visitors, Ms. Rachel will lead our Seahorse, Mahi, and Osprey classes as well as our Theater Club in performing music interludes that will keep the flow of visitors moving throughout the campus.  Student volunteers will help present how we use the materials so that our Guides can facilitate prospective parents’ questions, and members of our charter board will serve as ambassadors throughout the event.  Thanks to everyone for taking part in promoting and supporting our school!

SY2019 School Calendar

Our charter board will have the opportunity to approve our school’s calendar during its March meeting, and your opinion matters! If you have not yet done so, please take the following brief (three question) survey regrading calendar development for SY2019: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BMSYSKY.

School Safety

While you may have received information from our Superintendent of Schools, it’s important to let you know what steps we’re doing to keep our campus safe.  Members of our staff have formed a task force to develop a comprehensive safety action plan, and I’ve sought help from former federal law enforcement to conduct training (3/9) as well as a physical security assessment of our campus. They’ve been immediately supportive in sending information for plan development as well as informative school-based videos for our staff to view within the next week.  Based on what we learn, we will be making recommendations to the Planning & Development Committee for improving safety, and I will communicate the progress to everyone.

School Photos

Students’ school photos will be in office this week, and we’ll send them home as soon as they come in. I’ve communicated the concern over the long delay to our local photographer, Bert Budde, who sends his apologies.   Question: who remembers what their kids were wearing for school photos? #LatestHolidayCardsEver J

Parent Information Night

Join our May Sands Montessori Instructional Staff as they share helpful information to support your student’s growing independence! This hour-long event is an encore of the last one that took place in January.  Our Lead Guides will take families through all four program levels of our school, featuring the key points of each developmental stage. The event will begin @ 6:00 in the Seahorse classroom. We will post a registration link in the next newsletter – stay tuned!  *Participants will earn two service hours for their attendance.

IK5K

Irish Kevin’s is hosting their 5K on March 18, and for the second year, they will donate ALL proceeds to May Sands and Sigsbee Charter Schools!  Student and parent participation at this event is highly encouraged – even if you’re not a runner, come out for a brisk walk in costume and participate in the costume contest!
