Teacher Appreciation Week

Help us give special attention to our guides this week, during teacher appreciation week!  Through our instructional staff efforts, our students’ experience authentically enriching programs that are framed with grace, courtesy, and the promotion of peace.  The lead guides at May Sands Montessori School also receive extra training, beyond the certification requirements of traditional school teachers, which is a testament to their dedication.  Thank you, for giving our guides a special note of thanks!

National School Nurse Day

Tomorrow, May 9th is National School Nurse Day, and it’s a perfect time to reflect on how our school nurse Mrs. Renee supports each of us at school.  From helping establish school policy regarding best health practices to ensuring that our students’ medications are safely stored and administered, Renee works to support a healthy school environment for all of us.

In-store Book Fair Saturday

Books & Books @ The Studios of Key West will host a community-building fundraising event for our school this Saturday!  Our island’s awesome bookstore will donate a percentage of the day’s sales to our school when shoppers present the school’s bookmark – either in paper from, or digitally from our school’s Facebook page.  As a ‘thank you’ for using the coupon, shoppers will have a chance to win a $50 Books & Books @ The Studios gift card with each purchase.  Please inform the cashier that you are participating in our in-store book fair so that Books & Books can track the sales to give us credit; May Sands Montessori will only receive a portion from the sales that mention or present the bookmark coupon.

Our last Tuesday newsletter had a PDF attachment containing a number of bookmarks – those work as well as the digital version.  We cannot distribute the coupons – either in paper or electronic form – at the event.

This is a link to our Facebook event, and an electronic bookmark coupon appears in the discussion section of the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/787883344750165/  Thanks for sharing with your network!

In-school Book Fair

Our In-school Book Fair starts next Monday (5/14) and will feature special titles selected for students’ summer reading!  Our event chairperson, Jessica Pellegrino, will need a volunteer to help check in the books this Friday afternoon, and will need a total of four volunteers to help set up the fair – double service hours apply!  Please confirm your participation with Ms. Tonia: [email protected].  The fair will take place in the main building and Music Room – big thanks to Ms. Rachel for helping us accommodate the space to host our book fair. The book fair closes on 25 May.
