Papio’s Kinetic Parade

Our school will have an entry in the parade, which takes place this Saturday, May 6th @ noon.  The parade begins @ the Custom House and will travel all the way down Duval Street to the Southernmost Beach, where everyone will gather for the after party.  Our theme design is an octopus, and we are fortunate to have the support of local artist Steve Linden in getting the structure built, too! We will need student/family participation in the parade, so please start thinking of how you can join our float as we roll down Duval in the Kinetic parade!

Kinetic Kids Event

Our school has been invited to benefit from the family fun Kinetic Kids event that will take place from 11:30-3:30 this Sunday, May 7th at the Fort East Martello. While admission to the fort is free on that day, there will be kinetic games and activities, a bake sale and lemonade stand, and all the proceeds from the event will benefit May Sands Montessori School!  We will need the support of families, especially those who still have outstanding service hours, to help make this event a success, whether in preparing the special items or working the event.

Showing Our Appreciation

Next week is a special opportunity to share your appreciation for your student’s Guide, as it is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Thanks for helping make it a special week for our Instructional Staff! We are starting the celebration a little early, due to the Upper Elementary program level end of year field trip, and will have a special lunch prepared for staff this Friday. National School Nurse Day takes place next Wednesday, May 10th and presents another opportunity to show our appreciation. In an effort to honor our guides and our school nurse, would you please take a few minutes to complete an activity that will bring joyful smiles to these ladies? Here’s all it takes:

  • Sit with your student and reflect on the qualities you both appreciate about their lead guide and our school nurse.
  • Take a piece of stationery (maybe even a hand-made card) and write a thoughtful message (in your student’s best handwriting).
  • Deliver the thoughtful message one day next week.

All-School Meeting

Be sure to join us at school on May 10th @ 6:00 for our last All-School meeting of the year. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00. Families who have not attended two All-School meetings this school year must attend this meeting, as part of the Family School Commitment.

Books & Books Book Fair

Event Chair Leslie Concepcion is pleased to present this year’s Book Fair with an in-store Community Day at Books & Books at The Studios of Key West on Saturday May 13th!  We will need every family’s help in promoting this event with our friends and community at large; please share the attached bookmark coupons with friends.  Our school will receive a portion of all sales made on the in-store Community Day as long as the shopper presents the special coupon.

Our in-school Books & Books fair dates are May 15th  through the 26th and titles from teacher summer reading lists will be available for purchase.

Save a Life + Support our School
