Back to School Check-in
Families with students in the Blue Tang classroom should plan to stop by between 8 and 4 this Friday (8/10) to receive pertinent information about the school year. Ms. Jenni,  Ms. Lindsey, and Mrs. Laurie are looking forward to saying ‘hello’!

Campus Tidy-up this Saturday!
Bring your gardening gloves and hand tools to tackle the remaining weeds; we need to finish preparing the campus before the first day of school!  The campus will be open by 8:00 and we will plan to finish by 1:00.  Apart from the walkways and turf area, the garden beds need to be cleared, as well.

First Days of School
We will welcome students in grades 3, 6, and 8 on Monday (8/13) and there will be a noon dismissal.  All other students will report to school next Tuesday (8/14) and we will dismiss again at noon.  Our first full day of school is next Wednesday, August 15th.  Thank you for ensuring your child is at school by 8:15 so that we can start our day on time.

  • All students will need to bring a change of clothes, packed in a sealed bag (i.e. Zip-lock), labeled with their name.
  • Flip-flops are no longer acceptable footwear for school. All students should wear sneakers or another sturdy type of shoe to school.
  • Students in Lower and Upper Elementary will require indoor shoes – ones with firm soles are preferred over slippers; these shoes will remain at school throughout the year.
  • All students will need to bring a reusable water bottle to school, daily, labeled with their name.
  • Students who choose to bring a packed lunch will need an insulated and labeled lunchbox.

School Supplies

May Sands Montessori School has purchased school supplies for all program levels; this includes all periodical subscriptions, paper, pencils, notebooks, glue, and other consumable student supplies.  Families will receive an invoice for student supplies in next week’s Tuesday take-home folder.

Parent Directory: Occupations

We are creating a family directory where parents can post their occupation and generate potential business! Accurately completing your student’s enrollment paperwork will help our efforts at populating the directory.  Families will receive forms in next Tuesday’s take-home folder.  We will need all family data by 30 August so that we can organize the layout of the directory.  Thanks for turning in your students’ completed forms to our front office at your earliest convenience.

Registration with the district’s FOCUS parent portal is required for all families.
If you are a new family and have not yet registered, follow this link: https://monroe.focusschoolsoftware.com/focus/auth/

 All-School Meeting
Our first All-School Meeting takes place at 6:00 on Wednesday, August 29th at school.  Families will have the opportunity to meet the school staff, connect with other families, and learn about our school.  Thank you for making arrangements for at least one representative from your family to attend our All-school meeting.

Blood Drive
Our first blood drive of the school year takes place Thursday, August 30th from 12:00-4:00.  Hosting regular blood drives benefits our community and May Sands Montessori as well; OneBlood gives our school $10 for each blood donor! As an incentive for donors, OneBlood will have a Fandango movie voucher for everyone who donates, and May Sands families who donate blood during our event will also earn two service hour points – be sure to sign up today! This is a link for anyone who wants to skip a line and book the online appointment (not required, but strongly recommended for those with busy schedules): https://donor.oneblood.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/740491
