Requirements of the Position
As a Montessori public charter school, our instructional staff must meet eligibility standards for the position. Montessori Elementary I credential, as well as a Professional Educator’s Certificate in Elementary Education, are requirements of the position. Prior experience leading inquisitive students in a Lower Elementary Montessori environment is preferred. Above all, respect for self, others, and the environment are essential qualities to function effectively on our team.
The position begins immediately.
Placement on the salary schedule shall be based on verified years of teaching experience in the field. The base salary for beginning level Instructional Staff is $47,500. The school provides supplemental compensation for individuals who possess Montessori credentials and advanced degrees.

The May Sands Montessori School has the distinction of providing tuition-free education in the tropical island community of Key West, Florida, since 1998! Our school provides nurturing learning environments where students have the opportunity to reach their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth.
May Sands Montessori School serves students in the Primary, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Early Secondary program levels. Our Primary and Elementary classrooms are staffed with an assistant as well as a lead guide.

The blended method of instructional delivery provides in-person as well as synchronous online learning options for families. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong writing skills are absolutely necessary. Above all, respect for self, others, and the environment are essential to function effectively on our team.
The position is for the academic year with the potential for an award of an annual contract thereafter. The starting salary is based on an hourly rate of $17/hour. Health benefits are included. Workdays are 7:45 am – 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Ability to work closely with Lead Guides (classroom teachers) in supporting student growth
