School Year Calendar and Make-up Days

Today’s Principals’ conference call did not fully address the recapturing of any instructional days for our school; the district restored October 16th as a regular school day, but we already have that day as a regular school day.  I will keep everyone updated on any progress with restoration of instructional days.

School Breakfast

Our students appear to be enjoying school meals!  Please remember that breakfast is available to students from 7:45 – 8:15; if your student needs breakfast before school, please ensure she/he is in the Art/Science room before 8:15.

Box Tops

Attached to this message is a listing of products that contain the Box tops labels.  While each label counts for ten cents, our school received $250 last year!  Please send in your Box Tops by next Friday, October 13th, as our helpful coordinator Jessica Pellegrino (parent, Reef Gecko classroom) needs time to count each label.

Campus Tidy-up

Our next opportunity to beautify the campus takes place from 9-12 this Saturday, October 7th.  Projects include installing our flagpole, rehanging the shade sails, sanding/painting a lunch table/bench, weeding the grounds, planting groundcover at the front fence, washing windows, and a few other projects.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Hazardous Waste Drop-off This Saturday

Residents of Key West can bring items that are not safe for regular garbage disposal to Indigenous Park, 1801 White Street.
They will be accepting: chemicals, electronics: Gas cans, gaming systems, CFL light bulbs, wiring, TVs, VCRs, radios, telephones, oil, cleaners, fertilizers, poisons, pool cleaning chemicals, roofing chemicals, microwaves, etc. If you have any questions call: 305-809-3776.

Family Dine Out

Many thanks to Heather and Mike Barnes for their support of tuition-free Montessori education in Key West – they’re offering another Family Dine out at Mangia Mangia next Thursday, October 12th!  Be sure to let your server know you are dining to support May Sands Montessori School!  For those families who use social media, please share our event on Facebook: October Family Dine out at Mangia Mangia

Spirit T-shirts

Our school shirts are a great way to help make getting dressed a little easier in the morning!  Made locally, our spirit shirts come in a variety of colors.  Each class has selected their favorite color to wear for field trips (see below), but your student might like one in a few different colors!  Order forms are available in office or on our school’s website: http://maysandsmontessori.com/fundraising/information/ Please make checks payable to May Sands Montessori School.  We have extended our first order deadline to Friday, October 13th.
