This is the last week of our book fair! Families are invited to shop mornings (8:00-8:45) and afternoons (3:00-5:00) in the Art and Music rooms. This is a fundraiser for our school; May Sands Montessori School will receive 20% of all sales!

School Facility Task Force – Update

The newly-formed Facility Task Force Committee met last Thursday, and has sent a meeting request, today, to the Monroe County School Board to resolve our outstanding school lease.  We have shared that our Charter Board and parents are very concerned about a long-term solution for our school, and we look forward to a favorable reply with a successful meeting. I will keep everyone with the progress on this request, and I appreciate your support!

Fundraising Survey

Please help the Fundraising Committee evaluate current and potential future fundraising events for our school.  If you have not yet done so, please complete this survey, so that the fundraising committee can create a schedule that works best to achieve its goals and maximize participation.  Thank you for your support!

Mural Reveal this Friday!

This week, Miss Bria and our talented students are putting the finishing touches on the school mural. Back in January, Miss Bria was awarded a grant from the Keys Arts Council to create a large work of art with our entire student body. After months of research, field trips, sketching and painting, the final piece is almost complete. Focusing on local fauna and island weather patterns, this 420 square foot mural is quite a sight to see.

We would like to reveal our mural and share our hard work with family and community at pick up on Friday, May 26th. Please join us from 3:00 – 4:00 in viewing the piece and experiencing this gorgeous work of art to be enjoyed on campus for years to come.

Miss Bria would like to thank the volunteers and parents who have helped in completing this exciting project. She is very proud of our students’ hard work and dedication this process.  Hope to see you all on Friday!

Ancient Civilization Miniature Golf Fundraiser

Take a step back in time and play ten holes of fun on Thursday, June 1st on our school lawn, from 5:00-6:30PM.  The cost of this fundraiser $3.00 to play and snacks and drinks will be available for purchase for $1.00/apiece.  The Upper Elementary has been working so hard and we are excited for this fundraiser!  We welcome friends and family to join us!

End of Year Activities

Our second annual Field Day will take place Monday, June 5th from 9-11 @ Bay View Park. We will have a morning of games and fun @ the park, and then enjoy a community school lunch together on campus immediately following the games.  There will be opportunities for families to offer their support – stay tuned for a link to the sign up genius list to be shared later this week.

Our Moving up & Graduation Ceremony will take place @ 10:00 at the Eaton Street Theater on Tuesday, June 6th. This is a special event for our Kindergarten, Third Year, Sixth Year, and Eighth Year students, as they will be transitioning to a new program level; all students will attend the event, however.  We have secured transportation for staff and students to and from the event. Parents of students being honored are invited to attend and should plan to meet us at the event.

Our last day with the students is Wednesday, June 7th .  There will be a closing Flag Raising @ 8:30, and it is an early dismissal day.

Even though the school year is winding down, we are still collecting Box Tops! Jessica Pellegrino (Osprey Mom to Stellina) is our school coordinator and has already logged $96.90 for our school! We’ll accept Box Top donations throughout the school year, so feel free to clip and send them in!
