Special Guest

We are fortunate to have a returning special guest visit our school on Monday; Nimesh ‘Nimo’ Patel will share his gift of connecting through music and song with our students. As a part of our Health & Wellness lessons this week, each class will explore what Nimo considers the universal values of kindness, giving, inter-connectedness, oneness, and gratitude. We invite you to join your child in reflecting on the positive messages lovingly placed within each song.

Peace Education

Montessori education places a great deal of emphasis on peace. At May Sands Montessori School we commit to supporting the development of the whole child – one who will make a positive contribution to society through their character as much as their academic skill. Early lessons in grace and courtesy provide the framework for a peaceful and connected learning environment. Students are guided in practical life activities that require sharing, taking turns, active listening, and respect. Students develop these characteristics through active participation in their environment, and the classroom becomes a community of peacekeepers.

On Friday, September 21, our school community will gather together in celebration of the International Day of Peace, a day that was originally dedicated in 1981 by the United Nations for “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.” (https://internationaldayofpeace.org/about/).

We plan to hold our traditional peace march to Bayview Park during the morning, though our scheduled time hasn’t yet been confirmed. Stay tuned for more details about the event, as we will confirm plans at our weekly staff meeting, tomorrow (9/12).
