Fundraising Meeting Monday

Come be a part of our FUNdraising efforts! Our next meeting takes place Monday (11/6) @ 3:45 in the Art/Science room.

Blood Drive Fundraiser

We have a Blood Drive next Thursday (11/9/17) from 10-4.  Hosting regular blood drives benefits our community and May Sands Montessori as well; OneBlood gives our school $10 for each blood donor! As an incentive for donors, OneBlood will have a Fandango movie voucher for everyone who donates, and May Sands families who donate blood during our event will also earn two service hour points!

Veteran’s Day Holiday

There will be no school next Friday, in observance of Veteran’s Day.

MindUP Training

Our school is fortunate to have been granted a free training for the evidence-based, social and emotional learning (SEL) framework and curriculum that promotes mindful practice for the purpose of increasing self-awareness and the positive management of emotions.  MindUP offers training for all school staff, to develop their skill in modeling mindful practice, and includes school family engagement, to provide triangulation of support in helping children recognize and consistently use the skill.  MindUP presents a science-based understanding of how the brain works and how it impacts emotions and behavior.

Our training is currently scheduled from 12:30-5:30 on Monday, November 13th, which will require us to have a noon dismissal.  We are working to have limited child care available, as all members of staff are required to participate in the training session.  There will be a parent training session on the evening of November 13th, which will be sent under separate special invitation.  This program will be most successful with unified support through our strong school + home connection.
